President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, is set to host parliamentary party leaders on Thursday in an effort to overcome the political deadlock in the Kosovo Assembly, which remains unconstituted more than three months after the February 9 elections.
According to the Presidency, invitations were sent on Monday, and on Tuesday it confirmed that all invitees have confirmed attendance.
However, some smaller parties expressed dissatisfaction with being left out:
- Faton Peci, co-leader of the Guxo party (founded by Osmani herself), claimed they received no individual invitation, even though Guxo ran in coalition with Vetëvendosje. “We didn’t receive an invite. We should have, as we are a registered political party at the CEC, regardless of having run in coalition,” Peci told reporters.
- Similarly, Fatmir Limaj of Nisma, which entered elections as a junior coalition partner with Ramush Haradinaj’s AAK, also said he was not invited. Their relationship has since soured, particularly after Limaj signaled openness to cooperate with Vetëvendosje, a move Haradinaj firmly opposes.
Limaj stated that he’d be the first to join discussions — if only he were invited.
Schedule:
- 13:00 – Meeting with major parties
- 15:00 – Meetings with others
Meanwhile, the Kosovo Assembly failed for the 15th time to elect its Speaker, prolonging the institutional crisis.
