President Vjosa Osmani has officially requested Kosovo’s political parties to submit their nominations for new members of the Central Election Commission (CEC), as confirmed by Bekim Kupuna from the Presidency.

In accordance with the law on elections, the president is required to ask parliamentary groups to propose candidates for CEC membership no later than 30 days after the certification of parliamentary election results. This request was made in a letter sent to the parliamentary groups registered in the Kosovo Assembly.

The law stipulates that within 7 days of receiving this request, political parties must submit their nominations, with the president making appointments within 5 days of receiving the proposals.

The mandate for CEC members is tied to the election cycle, starting no later than 60 days after the certification of election results, which means the mandate of the outgoing members will end upon the start of the new mandate.

The CEC certified the results of the February 9, 2025 elections on March 27.
