The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has stated that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has shown increased interest in Kosovo, particularly regarding the dialogue with Serbia, as well as the preservation of peace and stability in the region.
In an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Osmani said that the heightened U.S. engagement is directly in Kosovo’s interest, emphasizing that Serbia remains the sole source of destabilization in the region.
According to her, the Trump administration has been clear and firm in its position that destabilizing or violent actions will not be tolerated, citing the armed attack in Banjska in 2023 as an example of the security threat originating from Serbia.
“Regarding its approach to Kosovo, the Trump administration has been clear, and this is being demonstrated through concrete actions every day. In its relations with Kosovo, it supports the continued strengthening of our military, and I am very pleased that, after extensive joint efforts and with the support of the Albanian-American community—whom I would like to thank once again for their tireless engagement—we have also secured the approval of a Congressional Act, which was signed into law by President Trump,” Osmani said.
She stressed that the United States is demonstrating its support for Kosovo not only through statements but also through tangible actions, including the continued strengthening of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) and the adoption of legal acts in Congress that support Kosovo’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Osmani also noted that the Trump administration has reinstated the approach that the Kosovo–Serbia dialogue should be based on mutual recognition, describing this as a significant diplomatic advancement for Kosovo and firmly rejecting any ideas of border changes.
Additionally, the President announced growing American interest in investments in Kosovo, particularly in the energy and information technology sectors, adding that Kosovo and the United States are coordinating concrete ideas and strategies expected to be presented to the Trump administration in the near future.
