President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has urged members of the Assembly to direct unresolved constitutional matters to the Constitutional Court, expressing hope that Judge Radomir Laban will not be appointed again as the reporting judge.

In a press conference, Osmani stressed the sensitivity of the issue and the importance of maintaining trust in judicial institutions.

I encourage the MPs of the Republic of Kosovo, who have a full mandate, to refer unresolved constitutional questions to the Constitutional Court, once the rulings in the two cases initiated by the PDK and LDK parties are published,” Osmani stated.

She added that this should be done “in the hope that the same reporting judge will not be appointed again.

I would not encourage any institution to allow the case to proceed in the Constitutional Court if such a sensitive topic is assigned to that same judge, at least not until our justice institutions have fully clarified his status,” she emphasized.

This follows her earlier decision to withdraw her own request from the Constitutional Court due to national security concerns related to Judge Laban, who was previously designated as the reporting judge in the same case.
