Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, emphasized Kosovo’s commitment to strengthening its alliance with the United States of America during Trump’s administration, reports Gazeta Sinjali.
In an interview with Australian influencer Mario Nawfal, Osmani praised American support during the most challenging periods of Kosovo’s history, stressing that, “From the darkest night of the war to the morning of freedom – America was there for us.”
“We aim to strengthen this alliance even more together with President Trump and his administration,” Osmani added.
President Osmani also discussed the breakup of Yugoslavia and the destructive role of Slobodan Milošević in that process. She stated that the disintegration began when Milošević started fighting against every nation that didn’t think like him, including Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and later Kosovo.
She emphasized that Milošević’s war in Kosovo wasn’t just about territory, but was a war against civilians, women, and children.
According to President Osmani, Milošević’s regime aimed to cause unimaginable harm across generations in Kosovo.
“His goal was to erase the Albanians of Kosovo from the face of the Earth,” she said, adding that this was prevented thanks to the intervention of the world’s democracies, led by the USA.
Osmani highlighted that Kosovo, saved from destruction, is now one of the most pro-American countries in the world, and this bond is essential for the country’s future.
“Milošević wanted to erase us from the face of the Earth. And miraculously, democracies from all over the world saved us, led by the USA, and saved our lives,” she said.
In conclusion, President Osmani stressed that Kosovo will always remain unbreakable and steadfast: “Kosovo will stand forever, just like our alliance with the United States of America.”
