The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, spoke at an event in the capital commemorating the 34th anniversary of the visit of an American delegation to Pristina, led by Senator Bob Dole. Osmani emphasized the vital importance of such visits by American senators and congressmen, which later ensured that the voice of the people of Kosovo was heard, writes Gazeta Express.

“Kosovo is an independent and democratic state, and the USA is here with us. Our call for justice was heard. This square preserves our historical memory,” Osmani stated.

She noted that such a story would not have started or succeeded without President Ibrahim Rugova, whom she refers to as the founding father of the state and independence of Kosovo.

“This story would neither have begun nor succeeded without the icon, the architect, and the founding father of our state and our independence, President Ibrahim Rugova,” Osmani added.

The head of state further stated that without the USA and the liberation war, neither then nor now would Kosovo have been free and independent.

“Without America and the UÇK [Kosovo Liberation Army], neither then nor now would Kosovo be free and independent,” Osmani said.
