The Kosovo Tax Administration (KTA) marked its 25th anniversary today, highlighting many achievements over the years.

During this time, the KTA has collected a total of 11 billion euros.

Ilir Murtezaj, the Director General of the Kosovo Tax Administration, stated that the journey over the years has been full of challenges, but at the same time, he emphasized that the KTA has also achieved successes.

“Initially, the KTA had a staff of 30 people, whereas now we have over 700. The KTA has the obligation to ensure uniform implementation of legal provisions for all taxpayers. We consider this mission sacred. As a result of professional work, the KTA has collected over 8 billion euros in taxes over these 25 years, and in total, we have collected over 11 billion euros,” Murtezaj said.

He mentioned that, alongside the increase in revenue, the reform of services within this institution has continued.

Sebastian Sosa, a representative from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), stated that the KTA is crucial for the country’s development.

He expressed pride in having helped the KTA in its journey to rise and develop.

Eileen Devitt, a representative from the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo, congratulated the KTA on the cooperation and achievements to date.

Jonathan Hargreaves, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Kosovo, said that the KTA has built the trust of citizens as well as businesses.

Hargreaves noted that they have witnessed dedication and progress at the KTA and that the figures reflect their achievements.

“Over 25 years, the KTA has demonstrated professionalism and commitment to its mission. You have built trust with citizens and businesses. You have done this by improving revenue collection. I am very proud that the United Kingdom has played an important role. We are proud of the cooperation we have shared with you,” he said.

German Ambassador to Kosovo, Joern Rohde, also expressed that Germany remains committed to continuing its support for the KTA.

At the end of the ceremony, the President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Lulzim Rafuna, stated that the KTA is a significant achievement that symbolizes mutual progress towards building a sustainable tax system.

Through its dedication, the KTA, according to Rafuna, has helped businesses create a framework that promotes equality and transparency.
