The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo has concluded the registration period for postal voting from abroad for the upcoming local elections scheduled on October 12, 2025.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi stated that the electronic platform received tens of thousands of applications. A total of 56,778 applications were submitted from 46 countries, with 46,015 approved and 10,094 rejected.

The majority of rejections were due to incomplete documentation, particularly the absence of proof of residence outside Kosovo. Each rejected applicant was notified of the reason and given the opportunity to reapply with the necessary documents.

Only registered voters will be eligible to vote by mail, with the postal voting period running from September 17 to October 11, 2025. Each registered voter will receive a package containing two ballots, which they must return to one of the CEC’s postal boxes available abroad or in Kosovo.

The upcoming local elections will include voting for mayors and municipal assemblies, with political parties having already published their candidates.
