Today marked the deadline for citizens to apply for the conversion of driver’s licenses issued by illegal Serbian institutions to official Kosovo driver’s licenses.

As of the end of this process, 6,509 citizens have completed the conversion of their driver’s licenses.

This was announced by Veton Elshani, Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region.

Elshani provided detailed statistics on the conversion of driver’s licenses across different municipalities. In the municipality of Leposaviq, 2,018 citizens converted their licenses. In North Mitrovica, 1,576 conversions were made. In Zubin Potok, 961 licenses were converted, and in Zvečan, 1,177 conversions were completed.

When asked about the next steps following the deadline, Elshani stated that fines would be imposed.

“Until today, 6,509 driver’s licenses have been converted. The deadline is until tomorrow at 4:00 PM. After that, it’s the weekend, and we will continue raising awareness among citizens. If we encounter any parallel driver’s licenses, which are not recognized by us, we will take action. Starting Monday at 8:00 AM, everything will operate the same as in the south,” he said.
