The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo has announced that over 70% of polling stations have been recounted, with the process now completed in 25 municipalities, covering 1,804 out of 2,557 polling stations.

“At the Counting and Results Center, the counting of ballots continues according to the polling stations selected for recount by the CEC. Since the start of the process on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 18:00, and as of Monday, January 26, 16:00, over 70% of polling stations—1,804 of 2,557—have been recounted. Results for each polling station will be available on the CEC platform here under QNR > Recount,” the CEC stated.

Next Steps

The final results are expected to be announced at the beginning of February, following the review of any submitted complaints, after which the results will be officially certified.

The decision to recount all polling stations came after a preliminary audit of over 500 polling stations revealed minor discrepancies for political parties, but significant counting errors for individual candidates.

Major Findings in Prizren

  • The recount revealed that 45,709 votes were either added or removed for candidates compared to the initial count.
  • The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) experienced notable deviations, with candidate Fetah Paçarizi losing over 6,000 votes after the recount.

Law Enforcement Actions

Following these irregularities, the Prizren Basic Prosecutor’s Office conducted an operation last Friday, which resulted in the arrest of 109 individuals in connection with voting violations.
