More than 80 flood warnings are currently in effect across the United Kingdom as continuous rainfall continues to batter the country.

The Environment Agency (EA) has issued 91 flood warnings, mostly across southern and southwestern England, as well as in the East and West Midlands regions.

This morning, the EA also issued 261 flood alerts, indicating potential flooding, spread across much of England.

Meanwhile, Natural Resources Wales has 11 flood alerts in effect.

The Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service warned that “due to heavy and prolonged rainfall today, local levels of the River Dene have risen to a point where flooding is unavoidable.”

The Met Office reported on Thursday that southwestern England and South Wales have experienced rainfall every day of 2026 so far.

According to forecasters, both regions had a much wetter January than average, with about 50% more rainfall than usual.

Southern coastal areas in the southwest are expected to face heavy rain accompanied by strong winds today, while South Wales will also experience heavy showers, meteorologists said.
