The Kosovo Liberation Army Veterans’ Organization (OVL UÇK) has strongly criticized the Hague-based Specialist Chambers after they denied Salih Mustafa, known as “Cali,” the opportunity to visit his father before his passing.
In an official statement, OVL UÇK described the Hague’s decision as “inexplicable” and “inhumane,” emphasizing that it constitutes a serious violation of fundamental human rights principles.
“Denying the right to be with a parent in their final moments and to bid them a last farewell is an act that exceeds any limits of justice and strips the process of all human sentiment,” the statement reads.
Full Reaction:
OVL UÇK expresses deep indignation and concern over the Specialist Chambers’ refusal to allow Salih Mustafa a humanitarian visit with his father, who has since passed away, without seeing his son or receiving his final farewell.
This inexplicable and inhumane decision represents a grave violation of fundamental human rights principles and every minimal standard of humanity. Salih Mustafa has been convicted with a final judgment, and there was no risk of influence on witnesses or any judicial process.
The refusal of such a humanitarian request has neither legal nor moral basis.
Denying the right to be near one’s parent in their final moments and to say a last goodbye surpasses all bounds of justice and strips the judicial process of any human feeling.
Justice without humanity is not justice—it is institutionalized injustice.
Condolences to the Mustafa family, Cali’s fellow combatants, and all who knew Uncle Jahja.
