The Organization of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVL UÇK) has commemorated the victims of the massacres that occurred on April 19 and 20, 1999, in Makoc (Prishtina) and Hallaq i Vogël (Lipjan).
In a statement to the media, the organization recalled those dark days, marking them as moments of both deep sorrow and enduring pride, as Serbian occupying forces continued their brutal offensive and mass killings of civilians.
“On April 20, 1999, in Makoc, 42 innocent civilians were massacred, while in Hallaq i Vogël, 20 ethnic Albanian civilians were killed, three of whom were from other regions,” the statement read.
OVL UÇK also honored the fighters who fell in battle during those days in Koshare, the Rugova Mountains, and the Marec area, emphasizing their sacrifice as crucial to Kosovo’s liberation.
These events are part of the wider memory of Kosovo’s struggle for freedom, and the organization stressed the importance of never forgetting the atrocities or the heroism of those who gave their lives.
