The Organization of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVL-UÇK) has sent an official letter to the Acting Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, urgently requesting the allocation of necessary financial resources for the legal defense of the former KLA members currently detained at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.

In the letter, OVL-UÇK expresses deep concern over what it calls a lack of institutional financial support to cover legal defense expenses for the individuals on trial in The Hague.

“The proceedings in The Hague against former KLA members represent not only the individuals involved but also the just history of our liberation struggle. Proper and professional defense is a fundamental requirement of justice and a moral and institutional obligation of the Republic of Kosovo,” the letter states.

The veterans’ organization underlines that the legal defense of those accused is not merely a technical issue but a national matter that demands immediate institutional attention. It calls on the Ministry of Justice to take concrete action in ensuring sufficient funding for the legal teams representing the detained former KLA fighters.

Below the main statement, the letter includes additional demands from OVL-UÇK, which can be viewed in full.
