U.S. President Donald Trump has been officially nominated for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize by Pakistan, citing his “decisive diplomatic intervention” in defusing tensions between India and Pakistan and preventing a potentially catastrophic conflict.
“In a time of heightened regional turmoil, Donald Trump demonstrated exceptional strategic foresight and remarkable political skill through strong diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi, ultimately leading to a ceasefire and preventing a broader war between two nuclear-armed states that could have had devastating consequences for millions,” the Pakistani government stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
“This intervention is proof of his role as a true peacemaker and his commitment to conflict resolution through dialogue,” the statement added.
Speaking to reporters in Morristown, New Jersey, President Trump responded by saying he should have already received the Nobel Peace Prize “four or five times” in the past, but claimed that “they only give it to liberals.”
