Pakistan has announced its intention to recommend U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. The nomination is in recognition of his efforts to help resolve the recent conflict between India and Pakistan.
The announcement came on Saturday, even as the U.S. President is reportedly considering joining Israel in striking Iranian nuclear facilities, The Guardian reports.
“President Trump demonstrated great strategic foresight and excellent statesmanship through robust diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi, which defused a rapidly escalating situation,” a statement from the Pakistani government read. “This intervention is a testament to his role as a true peacemaker.”
