The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, has criticized the possible split of Fatmir Limaj and the Social Democratic Initiative (NISMA) to join the ruling power, calling it “shameful.”

Speaking on Monday, Haradinaj said that AAK will vote for the candidate for Speaker of the Assembly but remains focused on forming a government from the opposition.

“We will vote for the candidate for Speaker of the Assembly. Of course, we will hold mutual consultations with other opposition parties, including PDK and LDK. I believe the establishment of the Assembly is in everyone’s interest, and then, as you know, AAK is committed to working toward forming a government from the opposition if the ruling parties fail to do so. I have had no communication with Mr. Limaj since his infamous recent interview. It has been very difficult to form a majority from the opposition, and Limaj’s early positioning made it even harder. If NISMA and Limaj support the ruling power, they are clearly separating from us. This separation is truly shameful because we asked the people for votes promising change, and their actions betray that,” Haradinaj stated.

Meanwhile, Mergim Lushtaku, a Member of Parliament from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), declared that their parliamentary group will not participate in the vote until there are “stable elections” in Kosovo.

He urged other political parties to keep their promises and prevent the formation of a “Kurti 3” government.

“A stable choice for Kosovo is the election of Bedri Hamza as Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo. With him, stability and sustainability will be ensured in the country. We call on all political parties to remain steadfast in their promises not to enable the formation of a ‘Kurti 3’ government. Tomorrow’s developments will show how they act. There is currently no concrete agreement,” Lushtaku said.

Additionally, Nenad Rašić, leader of the Party for Freedom, Justice, and Survival, emphasized that the right to form the government initially belongs to Vetëvendosje, as the leading party in the February 9 elections.

“If there is a reasonable proposal—and as you know, the rules state that the largest party, in this case Vetëvendosje, has the right to propose the Speaker of the Assembly—I see no problem with that, even if you might ask whether they have the numbers. I am not responsible for that, but I firmly believe in the creation of a government where the leading party, which won nearly half of the seats allocated to the Albanian community, is the rightful address for forming the institutions,” Rašić said.
