Përparim Gruda, a Member of Parliament from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), expressed strong opposition ahead of the continuation of today’s parliamentary session, stating that he does not expect any resolution.

Gruda accused Vetëvendosje (VV) of holding Kosovo’s institutions hostage and said that PDK will not vote under political dictate. He also criticized the use of a secret ballot vote, which he described as unconstitutional.

According to Gruda, the ruling party is acting as if it has an absolute majority, despite not having won one, and is unlawfully controlling key government positions.

“It is clear that the party that did not win the majority claims it has an absolute majority and has taken the institutions of Kosovo hostage. You know that the Prime Minister and ministers are in government in an unlawful manner,” Gruda said.

He particularly criticized the nomination of Albulena Haxhiu for a prominent institutional position, describing the situation as absurd.

“The party that came first in the elections has prioritized one individual — Albulena Haxhiu — over the institutions and the interests of Kosovo’s citizens,” Gruda stated.

Highlighting the contrast between political maneuvering and citizens’ needs, Gruda emphasized that while people wait for the institutions to be formed and their problems addressed, a single political figure is blocking progress.

“On one hand, there are the citizens of Kosovo waiting for institutions to be constituted and for their problems related to electricity, high prices, low wages, and pensions to be addressed. On the other hand, there is one individual, Albulena Haxhiu, who is holding back solutions,” he said.

Gruda questioned the practical impact of electing Haxhiu:

“If Haxhiu is elected chairwoman today, does VV have a plan to raise salaries or lower prices? Will this change the life of an average citizen of Kosovo?”

He concluded that if PDK’s vote is necessary, the candidate must be changed.
