The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has made it unequivocally clear that it has no collaboration or agreement with Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV) regarding the formation of the new government.
In a press conference held today, Naim Ismajli, a member of the PDK presidency, dismissed rumors that LVV was reaching out to individual MPs for votes to elect a new Speaker of the Assembly.
“The party chairman has been very clear about PDK’s position. We have no agreement, no cooperation, and no contact with Vetëvendosje regarding the formation of a government,” Ismajli stated.
“Yes, people may meet privately or personally, due to family or social ties, but politically, there is no connection or deal with Vetëvendosje.”
Deadlock Continues in Kosovo Assembly
The statement comes as Kosovo’s Assembly remains in institutional deadlock, with 21 previous failed attempts to elect a Speaker.
Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti earlier today reiterated that the solution lies in a secret vote, accusing the opposition of intentionally blocking quorum and harming the state.
“The opposition is unjustly obstructing quorum for the secret vote, blocking the democratic process and damaging the Republic of Kosovo,” Kurti said.
The 22nd attempt to convene the Assembly is scheduled for Tuesday at 11:00, as the country’s political crisis shows no signs of resolution.
