The Vice President of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Mimoza Ahmetaj, has expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to liberalize visas for Kosovo Serbs holding passports issued by illegal Serbian institutions, specifically the Serbian Coordinating Directorate.

Ahmetaj stated that this decision, which questions Kosovo’s sovereignty and only encourages the actions of illegal parallel Serbian structures, is a result of the incompetence of the Kurti Government.

“The PDK expected the European Union to support Kosovo in its goal of integrating Kosovo Serbs within the legitimate institutions of our state, to equip them with official Kosovo documents. This decision only distances Kosovo Serbs and encourages them not to become an integral part of our society and state. Nevertheless, this international decision, which today brings consequences for Kosovo, had a local cause yesterday: the Government of Kosovo! From the first day in power, the current administration has had a non-serious approach to dialogue and our allies. This Government has shown deep incompetence and irresponsibility in its actions and inactions in foreign policy, proving today that it has damaged even the interests of our country,” she emphasized.

According to her, the Kurti Government did not react in time and did not insist enough on respecting the agreement reached in the Dialogue for Free Movement.

“The wrong policies of this Government, which are always reactive but never proactive, have failed to protect our country’s interests and push forward the state-building and consolidation agenda of Kosovo. Unfortunately, our Government has not yet understood that their weak comments within the four walls in Pristina are a deaf voice in the Institutions of the European Union,” Ahmetaj stressed.

PDK considers that this EU decision and the Government’s approach reconfirm that the Kurti Government is a structure in Pristina that has zero communication with international partners and allies, has closed Kosovo’s lines of communication and trust worldwide, and has isolated Kosovo.

“These decisions do not contribute to the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. On the contrary, they undermine Kosovo’s territorial and institutional integrity and send other messages, which, instead of promoting stability, further incite Serbia’s harmful policies towards Kosovo in particular and the Balkans in general. Fourteen years ago, when the International Court of Justice confirmed Kosovo’s declaration of independence, the entire democratic world was with Kosovo and its right to statehood. Today, 14 years later, under the irresponsible and visionless leadership of this Government, the world has distanced itself from us, and Kosovo is heading towards losing important moments for integration and development,” she stated.

Vice President Ahmetaj harshly condemned the successive attacks by this administration on free media and journalists.
