Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, announced that the party will initiate a legal battle starting tomorrow to revoke the decision on the liberalization of the energy market. He stated that they will begin with an administrative objection to the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), describing the decision as “terrible” and a “crime against Kosovo’s economy.”

Krasniqi made these remarks following the 23rd failed attempt to constitute the Assembly, blaming the blockade on the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV).

“It’s been a month and a half since the attempt to constitute the Assembly began, and over three and a half months since the elections were held. Unfortunately, the blockade initiated and enabled by LVV continues. We still don’t have functioning institutions, and it seems there’s no real interest in moving the country out of this political crisis created by Mr. Kurti and his party,” he said.

Krasniqi reiterated that PDK would not support any candidate for speaker who was part of the former Kurti government.

He also spoke about today’s business protest, emphasizing that the liberalization decision should have been postponed until proper conditions were in place.

“If this decision isn’t stopped—which we’ve repeatedly requested with well-founded arguments—prices for services and goods will inevitably rise, increasing the burden on Kosovo’s families and raising inflation,” he warned.

Krasniqi called the current state of the energy market a sham, saying that although 90 companies are licensed, only one actually sells electricity, calling it a monopoly.

“Tomorrow, we will file an administrative objection to the ERO as the first step, and will continue with legal actions until this decision is annulled. This is a catastrophic decision that amounts to a crime against the Republic of Kosovo’s economy,” Krasniqi concluded.
