Lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) have walked out of the parliamentary session, preventing the quorum required to elect the new President of Kosovo.

The extraordinary session of the Assembly of Kosovo had been scheduled to begin at 22:00, with the election of the country’s new head of state as the only item on the agenda.

However, the departure of PDK deputies from the chamber meant that the necessary number of lawmakers was not present, making it impossible to proceed with the presidential vote.

The vote was expected to determine whether Glauk Konjufca or Fatmire Kollçaku would be elected as the next President of Kosovo, just hours before the constitutional deadline for selecting a new head of state.

Political tensions have intensified as parties remain divided over the election process, raising uncertainty about whether the parliament will be able to complete the presidential vote within the required timeframe.

Further developments are expected as political leaders continue consultations following the disruption of the session.
