The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has announced that it will not participate in the meeting of the Assembly Presidency, which was called for Monday.
In an official statement, PDK declared that the Assembly has not yet been constituted, therefore it considers the invitation to the meeting meaningless, reports IndeksOnline.
“PDK assesses that the deliberate delays in the process of forming state institutions, caused by the first-ranking party, are extremely dangerous for the Republic of Kosovo.
Although it had no constitutional or political obligation, the Democratic Party of Kosovo assumed institutional responsibility by voting for the Speaker of the Assembly, with the sole purpose of unblocking the highest representative institution of the citizens,” the official statement of the party reads.
Full Statement:
Today, the Speaker of the Assembly declared the constitution of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo completed, without fully implementing Article 67 of the Constitution of Kosovo. For the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Assembly is still not constituted, since its Presidency has not yet been elected in its full constitutional composition.
Under these circumstances, PDK considers the invitation for a meeting of an unconstituted Assembly Presidency meaningless, and it will not participate in such meetings, which serve only partisan agendas and not the interest of the state.
PDK considers that the deliberate delays in the process of forming state institutions, caused by the first-ranking party, are extremely dangerous for the Republic of Kosovo.
Although it had no constitutional or political obligation, the Democratic Party of Kosovo assumed institutional responsibility by voting for the Speaker of the Assembly, with the sole purpose of unblocking the highest representative institution of the citizens.
Nevertheless, Vetëvendosje’s subsequent actions and populist schemes clearly demonstrate its fear of entering the legitimate constitutional deadlines to attempt the creation of a new government. This approach, due to their fault, is pushing Kosovo toward a new institutional crisis, the consequences of which will be borne by our state and our citizens.
