A specialized Italian team, CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear), part of the Regional Command West Support Battalion of the KFOR mission, carried out an inspection at the Eurosteel waste disposal factory in the municipality of Pejë.
In a statement from the NATO mission in Kosovo, it was mentioned that this inspection is a routine activity conducted by KFOR to support the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning. The aim is to monitor the condition of industrial sites and assist local authorities in operations to reduce chemical and radiological risks.
“These activities are always conducted in collaboration with CBRN teams from other KFOR contingents and with support from the Kosovo Police,” the mission said in the statement.
KFOR reiterated that it continues to fulfill its mandate, based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 from 1999, to contribute to creating a secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and the freedom of movement, at all times and impartially.
