Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has stated that Russia will not halt its war against Ukraine unless the country’s military objectives can be achieved through diplomatic means, Rks News reports.
“We are interested in achieving our goals during the special military operation, and it would be preferable to do so through political and diplomatic avenues,” Peskov said, according to France’s AFP news agency.
However, he added:
“Until that becomes possible, we will continue the special operation.”
His comments come amid ongoing heavy fighting in Ukraine and a lack of tangible results from international peace efforts.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced that a new prisoner-of-war exchange took place between Russia and Ukraine on Friday, under an agreement reached during last month’s talks in Istanbul. No details were released regarding the number of prisoners exchanged.
