Petar Petković, Director of the Office for Kosovo in the Serbian Government, emphasized in a recent meeting with EU Special Envoy for Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, Peter Sorensen, that the key issue in the dialogue must be the normalization of relations and the formation of the Association of Serb-majority municipalities.

Petković strongly stated that it is “unacceptable” for Kosovo’s chief negotiator, Besnik Bislimi, to attempt to include Preševo and Bujanovac in the dialogue process.

“Yesterday, we heard that Bislimi opened several alleged issues concerning Preševo and Bujanovac. These are not part of the dialogue topics. We all know that the dialogue is about the Kosovo issue, the status of the Serbian community, the formation of the Association, and how to achieve peace and stability in Kosovo through necessary compromise solutions for both Serbs and Albanians,” Petković said in a statement to the media after the Brussels meeting.

Petković also informed Sorensen about “everything” that has transpired in Kosovo recently.

The day before, Kosovo’s chief negotiator, Besnik Bislimi, met with Sorensen in Brussels. Bislimi noted that a planned trilateral meeting failed due to travel difficulties on the Serbian side.
