After the latest round of dialogue in Brussels, the chief negotiator for Serbia, Petar Petković, claimed that “Bislimi did not agree to meet with him,” but in fact stated the opposite, declaring that “Belgrade is always ready for talks and finding a compromise solution, but the dialogue process loses meaning if Pristina refuses to discuss issues that are in the interest of protecting the rights of Serbs in Kosovo.”
Petković stated that in a meeting with the EU’s special envoy for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajčak, he spoke about the Association and other “important topics, such as the full implementation of all signed agreements, the bridge over Ibar, postal services, energy, telecommunications, missing persons, and integrated border management.”
“Numerous topics have been on the negotiating table. As the chief negotiator of Belgrade, the first thing I did was discuss the measures of the Serbian government, which were also mentioned by the President of Serbia at the media conference. These are ‘comprehensive protective measures for the Serb population’ in Kosovo and measures that imply the realization of the dialogue process, which is necessary for us as we are absolutely convinced that only through dialogue can we find a compromise solution to the issue of Kosovo,” claimed Petković.
According to his words, “the trilateral meeting could not be facilitated through a direct meeting with the Kosovo side because, as he says, ‘the Kosovo chief negotiator Besnik Bislimi refused to meet with the representatives of Serbia.’”
“Bislimi refused to participate in the trilateral meeting because the Serbian delegation insisted on topics such as the Association, postal services, and the issue of implementing the agreement on the bridge,” claimed Petković.
