The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with the renowned American photojournalist, Ron Haviv.
Together with Burim Myftiu, the director of the International Photography Festival currently being held in Kosovo, they discussed the development of photojournalism and the importance of documenting significant events, both for Kosovo and the world at large.
“Ron Haviv has documented over 26 conflicts and wars, including the war in Kosovo, and has worked in more than 100 countries, bringing history to life through photographs that have themselves made history,” Kurti wrote on his Facebook page.
“This is not his first time in Kosovo. Every time he comes, we welcome him, and we will always be grateful for his courage in documenting the truth about the violent breakup of Yugoslavia and Serbia’s crimes in the Balkans. His book, ‘Blood and Honey: A Balkan War Journal,’ is an exceptionally important collection for national memory and international remembrance of the painful past, the fight for the freedom we have enjoyed for 25 years now, and the justice that is still delayed even after 25 years.”
