Polish and allied fighter jets were scrambled on Sunday to secure Polish airspace following Russian airstrikes targeting western Ukraine, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced.
“These actions are aimed at ensuring the safety of areas bordering high-risk zones,” the Command stated on the social media platform X.
All of Ukraine was placed under an air raid alert starting at 2 a.m. on Sunday after Ukrainian air forces warned of incoming Russian missile attacks.
The situation has heightened regional tensions, with Poland taking swift defensive measures to protect its borders amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
