The British Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, has announced his meeting with Prime Minister Kurti today. He stated that he discussed the “shared concerns of the UK and other international partners of Kosovo regarding the recent actions of the Government in the North of Kosovo” with Kurti.
Hargreaves added that they also discussed a range of bilateral issues, including the UK’s support for Kosovo’s Customs and Tax Administration and security, including the role of UK forces in KFOR.
“We also discussed a range of bilateral issues, including the UK’s support for Kosovo’s Customs and Tax Administration and security, including the role of UK forces in KFOR,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, when announcing this meeting, the Prime Minister’s Office did not mention the recent disagreements but said that the Prime Minister thanked the British ambassador for “cooperation in the field of defense.”
“The Prime Minister thanked Ambassador Hargreaves for the UK’s support for Kosovo Customs with technical equipment to combat smuggling, as well as for cooperation in the field of defense and with the Kosovo Security Force, which is training Ukrainian soldiers in the UK under Operation Interflex and has conducted joint deployment missions with the UK Army. He also highlighted the fact that Kosovo is now part of the UK Export Finance mechanism, which offers more opportunities for investment from UK investors,” stated the press release issued by Kurti’s office.
On Friday, Kosovo authorities closed down five parallel Serbian institutions in the north of the country, including the parallel municipality of Mitrovica, which sparked a strong reaction from the international community.
