A fire broke out around 5:30 a.m. in an apartment in Rrokaqielli, Pejë, which preliminary reports suggest was uninhabited.
As a safety measure, residents were evacuated.
Fadil Gashi, Police spokesperson for the Pejë region, told Indeksonline that around 5:40 a.m., authorities were notified that an apartment on the eighth floor of the Rrokaqielli building on Bill Klinton Street was on fire.
“Police, firefighters, and a medical team responded to the scene. Several residents were evacuated as smoke spread to higher floors. The fire has been contained and there are no injuries. Competent police units remain on site,” said Gashi, adding that a fire expert is expected to arrive soon.
