The Kosovo Police have provided details concerning the threats made against the Mayor of Zubin Potok, Izmir Zeqiri, stating that these threats occurred via social media.
In the police’s 24-hour report, it is revealed that Zeqiri was insulted and threatened by an individual, and it is noted that the case is currently under investigation.
“The complainant, a male Kosovar, reported that through social media, an unidentified person, suspected to be of Serbian nationality, insulted and threatened him. The case is under investigation by the relevant police units,” the report states.
Meanwhile, the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Mitrovica has also initiated an investigation into these threats.
“The prosecutor has been informed and has instructed that a case be opened for the criminal offense of ‘Threat’ and that investigations have already commenced together with the police,” said the spokesperson for this prosecutor’s office, Valon Preteni.
Zeqiri himself also spoke about the situation, explaining the steps he has taken following the threat.
“I am not scared, but since he continued with the threats, I reported it to the police. The police are handling the case.”
“The investigation is ongoing. When I reported it the first time, I received information from the Cybercrime Investigation Unit that the individual responsible is doing this from abroad, meaning they are not in Kosovo,” he stated.
