The Kosovo Police Task Force, in cooperation with the Regional Investigation Unit of the Regional Directorate of Borders – East (DRK East), conducted a successful operation at the border area with Serbia as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities and smuggling.

According to a statement from the Kosovo Police, on June 3rd, following operational information regarding smuggling of goods, the police contacted the Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Gjilan. Upon his order, a search was conducted at a house and associated premises in the Gjilan municipality.

During the search, large quantities of processed tobacco ready for sale, totaling over 600 kilograms, were found, involving various brands.

Preliminary assessments suggest the goods were illegally brought into Kosovo through unauthorized routes. The estimated market value of the seized tobacco is approximately €12,000, while the evaded customs duties may reach up to €30,000.

The seized goods were confiscated and sent to the customs terminal for further legal procedures. The case is being handled by competent Kosovo Police units, and investigations are ongoing.

Kosovo Police reaffirm their commitment to prevent and combat all forms of smuggling and urge citizens to report suspicious activities.
