Kosovo Police have confirmed that Tanja Antic, mayor of Ranillug, has been detained and questioned under suspicion of exerting pressure on voters during the ongoing parliamentary elections.

According to Ismet Hashani from the Kosovo Police, Antic allegedly influenced undecided voters and supporters of other political parties. She is also suspected of threatening voters with the potential withdrawal of benefits provided by Serbia if they did not follow her instructions.

“The Kosovo Police received reports indicating that voters were allegedly pressured or threatened regarding benefits they receive from Serbia if they failed to vote according to her directives,” Hashani said.

Antic was interrogated at regional investigative facilities, in the presence of her legal counsel and a State Prosecutor. Following the questioning, the State Prosecutor ordered that the case proceed through standard legal procedures.

Election Process in Gjilan Region Remains Smooth

Hashani also commented on the broader election process in the Gjilan region, noting that all other polling stations are functioning normally. Reports indicate that the voting process is proceeding smoothly, with no significant irregularities aside from the incident in Ranillugut.

Kosovo’s elections, held across 910 polling centers with nearly two million eligible voters, continue to attract attention due to high voter turnout and intense scrutiny of election integrity.
