Swedish Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonas Westerlund, has commented on the current political situation in the country, emphasizing the need for cooperation and compromise among political parties to establish functioning institutions.

In an interview on the TV show “Gazeta” on Kanal10, he noted that despite Lëvizja Vetëvendosje’s (VV) election victory, the party cannot govern alone without securing a parliamentary majority.

“Even in previous elections, such as those in 2001 and 2004, when a party had around 45% of the vote, in the end, compromises had to be made to form a government. So, even if you have the largest party, you need to compromise and form alliances with other parties,” Westerlund said.

His clear message to all parties is that compromise and cooperation are necessary to overcome the political deadlock and build a functional government.
