Pope Leo XIV has made a call for an end to wars and the establishment of a “sustainable peace” in his first message to the global powers during Sunday’s blessing in the Vatican, reported Sinjali.com.

In his address, Pope Leo XIV urged the cessation of the conflict in Ukraine, a ceasefire in Gaza, and welcomed the agreement between India and Pakistan made on Saturday.

Sustainable peace” was the Pope’s message for the war in Ukraine, while he also called for “a ceasefire in Gaza” and for the “welcoming of the agreement between India and Pakistan.”

Pope Leo XIV is set to be officially inaugurated on May 18th with a mass in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican. He was elected as the new leader of the Catholic Church on Thursday, following a two-day conclave in the Vatican.

Amidst this busy week, Pope Leo XIV held his first mass in the Sistine Chapel on Friday and met with the cardinals on Saturday. During this meeting, he pledged to continue the “precious legacy” of his predecessor.

In addition, Pope Leo XIV suggested the development of Artificial Intelligence, signaling that under his leadership, the Church would be more involved in the technological and ethical issues of the modern age.
