At the conclusion of the Jubilee audience, Pope Leo XIV made an urgent plea for peace, expressing deep concern over the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.
“In these days, we are receiving very troubling news. The situation in Iran and Israel has seriously deteriorated,” he said.
The Pope urged world leaders to act with responsibility and reason, emphasizing the importance of striving for a safer and more peaceful world.
“At such a delicate moment, I wish to renew my call for responsibility and reason. The pursuit of a world free from nuclear threats must be guided by respectful encounters and sincere dialogue to build a lasting peace based on justice, fraternity, and the common good,” he declared.
Pope Leo XIV also strongly condemned any threat to the existence of a nation.
“No one should ever threaten the existence of another. It is the duty of all nations to support the cause of peace, to embark on the path of reconciliation, and to promote solutions that ensure security and dignity for all,” he concluded.
