Saranda, Albania – July 27, 2025
A 57-year-old Portuguese national has been reported missing after entering the sea for a swim near the “Buka e Vivarit” lagoon area in Saranda on Sunday afternoon.
According to the official statement from the State Police, the individual, identified by the initials A.G., was vacationing in the area with several friends. Around 18:00 local time, he entered the water and has not been seen since.
Immediately after the alert was raised, units from the Saranda Border Police, along with land patrols, initiated a comprehensive search operation both in the water and along the shoreline in an attempt to locate the missing man.
A special investigative team has also been formed at the Saranda Police Station to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
As of now, no trace of the missing tourist has been found, and the search and rescue efforts are ongoing.
Authorities have called on local residents and businesses in the area to provide any relevant information that may assist in the search.
