The Government Commission for Missing Persons reported that on Tuesday, citizens and cemetery maintenance personnel in Northern Mitrovica discovered human remains that may belong to victims of the Kosovo War.
The discovery was immediately reported to the Kosovo Police.
“Following the report, a joint team composed of the Government Commission for Missing Persons, the War Crimes Investigation Directorate, and the Institute of Forensic Medicine arrived at the site. A preliminary verification was conducted, and after confirmation by the forensic expert, procedures for recovery were initiated,” the commission stated.
This finding underscores ongoing efforts to identify missing persons from the conflict, highlighting the continued importance of forensic investigations in Kosovo.
