A violent storm has hit Paros Island in Greece, causing catastrophic flooding. Torrential rainfall overwhelmed the towns of Parikia and Naousa, where streets turned into rivers, sweeping away parked cars and debris.
Authorities have issued an emergency traffic ban, halting movement across affected areas. In addition, schools in Paros, Kos, Rhodes, and Mykonos have been closed for safety.
The National Weather Service warns that the bad weather, with winds up to 74 km/h, will continue for at least another 48 hours, putting even more strain on already flooded areas.
Recovery efforts are ongoing, and the full extent of the damage is still being assessed. Local authorities are working to clear roads and assist residents in need.
