The institutional deadlock following Kosovo’s most recent elections has drawn concern from the U.S. diplomatic mission. On Thursday, the Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati, met with Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti to address the ongoing political crisis caused by the failure to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo.

During the meeting, Prattipati expressed concern that the continued obstruction of the Assembly’s formation by political parties—through tactics or procedural delays—is harming Kosovo’s democratic foundations.

“I call on all leaders to rise above divisions and fulfill the mandate entrusted to them by the people of Kosovo,” said Prattipati.

She emphasized the urgency of resolving the impasse and called on Kosovo’s political leadership to take responsibility and work together toward a solution.

“A functioning democracy requires that all citizens have the opportunity to freely choose their representatives,” she added.
