This Year The European Commission aims to bring Western Balkan countries closer to the European Union through millions from the Growth Plan. The president of this institution has begun a regional visit, continuing with Prishtina.
Ursula von der Leyen met with President Vjosa Osmani today, following which she held a press conference and then had a meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti in the Kosovo Government.
On its official Facebook page, the European Commission commented on von der Leyen’s visit, highlighting the issue of advance payments, which are expected to be made before the end of the year.
For Kosovo and Serbia to benefit from these EU funds, they must meet prerequisites related to dialogue and the implementation of agreements, in addition to general conditions.
The KE stated that more than €880 million is available for Kosovo, and the first payment may arrive by the end of the year.
“Kosovo has made significant progress on its reform agenda. President von der Leyen visited Kosovo today and emphasized its progress regarding EU reforms. Overall, more than €880 million is available for Kosovo under the Growth Plan, starting with an initial payment that could come by the end of the year,” reads the statement from the European Commission.
