The Office of the President of Kosovo has issued a sharp response to former Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, following his criticism of President Vjosa Osmani, whom he accused of “betrayal” over her statements about mandating Glauk Konjufca for prime minister.
Learta Hollaj, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Cabinet, said in a written statement that when Isa Mustafa speaks of “betrayal,” the public memory recalls the secret power deals of 2014, which, according to her, violated the will of the voters and the Constitution.
“Isa Mustafa’s insults toward the President are the bitter outburst of a man whose political time has long passed. Instead of reflecting on his failures, which Kosovo still pays for, he attacks a leader who has consistently defended democracy, sovereignty, and dignity,” Hollaj said.
She added that President Osmani refused to be part of ‘true betrayal’—the undemocratic bargains and unconstitutional agreements with Serbia, and that today, Mustafa’s accusations only prove her integrity.
“It is better to be a ‘traitor’ to shady agreements that harmed the country than a symbol of submissive politics, silence, and defeat,” Hollaj continued.
“Disobedience to leaders who deviate from principles and betray Kosovo’s interests is not treachery—it’s courage. That is the essence of democracy, which President Osmani defends consistently.”
Hollaj further emphasized that the era of men who believe the people owe them power has ended, adding that Osmani represents “trust, values, and the voice of citizens,” not the politics of control and submission.
In response, Isa Mustafa, in an interview with Gazeta Express, accused Osmani of betraying her party and the people who supported her, claiming she used that betrayal to advance politically.
“She admitted she betrayed her party and those who believed in her—and that’s how she became president,” Mustafa said, calling her behavior “the miserable level of a president.”
He added that the Kurti government, born from such “betrayal,” has not served Kosovo well, arguing it has brought sanctions, violated the Constitution, and fueled corruption.
