The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, met with the European Union Special Representative for the Kosovo–Serbia Dialogue, Peter Sørensen, to discuss recent political developments in Kosovo, the electoral processes, security situation, relations with the EU, and the future of the dialogue with Serbia.

During the meeting, President Osmani emphasized that the dialogue process must focus on mutual recognition and that its success depends on the equal treatment of both parties. She highlighted that Serbia has repeatedly violated the Brussels Agreement and the Ohrid Annex, undermining Kosovo’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, committing acts of aggression, and opposing Kosovo’s membership in international organizations.

Osmani stressed that the process must have clear objectives and measurable results for European integration, noting that selective interpretation of agreements harms the process.

She also briefed Sørensen on the successful, democratic, and inclusive parliamentary and local elections in Kosovo, praising them as evidence of the state’s democratic maturity and the proper functioning of institutions according to European standards.

The meeting also covered Kosovo–EU relations. President Osmani welcomed the December decision to fully lift measures against Kosovo, announced at the EU–Western Balkans Summit, calling it an important step toward restoring a full and equal partnership between Kosovo and the EU.

Speaking about Kosovo’s European perspective, Osmani emphasized that granting candidate status for EU membership is a strategic necessity, not only for Kosovo but also for regional stability and the EU’s credibility.

The President highlighted Kosovo’s full alignment with EU foreign and security policy, its proven democratic record, and ongoing reform momentum. She underlined her commitment to continue working with EU member states and institutions to advance Kosovo’s candidate status without further delay.
