President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, has issued a strong condemnation following the fatal shooting of Judge Astrit Kalaja inside the Court of Appeals in Tirana on Monday.

In his official statement, President Begaj expressed deep shock and grief over what he described as an “intolerable act of violence” committed against a judge while performing his duty.

“I am deeply shocked and strongly condemn the intolerable act of killing Judge Astrit Kalaja in the line of duty. This horrific attack against a distinguished judge — and justice itself — must be met by society with the utmost contempt and rejection, as it represents a macabre assault on the very foundations of coexistence and social peace,” President Begaj stated.

He further extended his condolences and solidarity to the judge’s family, colleagues, and the entire judicial community, emphasizing that the state stands with them in this time of profound sorrow.
