President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, paid tribute today to Dëshmor i Kombit Indrit Cara in Kavajë, marking the 26th anniversary of his heroic sacrifice in the Kosovo War. During a solemn ceremony, a monument in his honor was officially inaugurated.
A Symbol of Courage and National Unity
President Begaj laid a wreath at the Ushtar Kavajës statue, commemorating the unwavering patriotism of Cara, who left England to join the fight for Kosovo’s liberation. In his speech, Begaj emphasized that Indrit Cara belongs to Kosovo, Albania, and the entire Albanian nation.
“He was born in Kavajë, but today he belongs to Kosovo, Albania, and all Albanians. Indrit Cara is a symbol of courage, patriotism, and sacrifice. His name is engraved in our history, inspiring future generations to uphold unity and act for the greater good of our nation,” Begaj stated.
A Legacy That Must Endure
The President underscored the importance of remembering Indrit Cara’s sacrifice as a guiding light for Albania and Kosovo’s future.
“His sacrifice is a compass for a united nation, a strong Albanian identity, and a Kosovo that moves forward—free and proud,” he added.
Begaj also paid homage to historical figures who led the struggle for Kosovo’s freedom, including Ibrahim Rugova, Adem Demaçi, and Adem Jashari, stressing the responsibility of both political leaders and citizens to preserve their legacy.
Official Visit to Kavajë
During his visit, President Begaj met with Kavajë’s Mayor, Fisnik Qosja, and toured the recently restored Kavajë Ethnographic Museum.
