Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti is expected to meet today with the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, to discuss the ongoing process for the election of the President of Kosovo.
Kurti announced the meeting during a session of the Vetëvendosje General Council, stating that the talks with Abdixhiku will focus on finding a solution regarding the presidential election process.
This will be the second meeting between the two leaders on the same issue, as they also met last week to discuss possible options and political support required to elect a new president.
The discussions come at a crucial moment, as constitutional deadlines are approaching. According to the current timeline, March 4 is considered the final date for electing the President. If the Assembly fails to complete the process within the required procedures and voting rounds, the country could face the possibility of early parliamentary elections.
Political consultations between major parties have intensified in recent days, with the aim of securing the necessary votes in the Assembly and avoiding a new electoral process, which could further delay institutional decision-making.
