President of the European Council Criticizes Russia, Reaffirms EU Support for Ukraine

President of the European Council and former Portuguese Prime Minister, Antonio Costa, has strongly criticized Russia for refusing to engage in international peace efforts and for violating the international order, RKS News reports.

In a statement to The Guardian, Costa expressed his disappointment with Russia’s stance, emphasizing the European Union’s unwavering support for Ukraine.

He also highlighted that EU member states will have increased flexibility to scale up assistance to Ukraine. Referring to Ukraine’s EU accession path, Costa described the progress as “impressive” and affirmed support for the country’s continued advancement toward accession negotiations.
