The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence, awarded the posthumous “Hero of Kosovo” order to Shaban Jashari, the head of the Jashari family.
The decoration was received by Bekim Jashari on behalf of the family.
During her speech, Osmani emphasized that the Jashari family is the foundation upon which Kosovo’s freedom was built.
“A vivid moment of unparalleled sacrifice and heroism. In the history of humanity, it is rare for an entire family to sacrifice itself for the sacred ideal of freedom, becoming a symbol of resistance and national dignity, and an inspiration for thousands of KLA soldiers. From the first bullet to the heroic resistance of March 1998, the Jashari family was never broken, never backed down. In fact, they embraced immortality,” said Osmani.
