The Office of the President of Kosovo has published the official decree in which President Vjosa Osmani formally dissolved the ninth legislature of the Kosovo Assembly, following the failure of the second mandate holder to secure approval for a new government.

According to the presidential statement, “In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and applicable legislation, and after receiving today the decision of the Assembly regarding the failure to form a government even by the second mandate holder, the President of the Republic of Kosovo has today dissolved the ninth legislature of the Republic of Kosovo.”

The announcement now sets the stage for the scheduling of early parliamentary elections.

Sources from Reporteri.net indicate that during consultations with party leaders, Albin Kurti of LVV and Faton Peci of the Guxo party proposed 28 December as the election date. Meanwhile, leaders of PDK (Bedri Hamza), LDK (Lumir Abdixhiku), and AAK (Ramush Haradinaj) expressed a preference for 21 December.

Fatmir Limaj, leader of the NISMA Socialdemokrate, suggested either 21 December or 11 January, citing logistical difficulties with holding elections during the holiday period, thus ruling out 4 January or 28 December.

The decision marks a significant moment in Kosovo’s ongoing political deadlock, following repeated failures to form a government after the February 9 elections, and underscores the urgent need for a clear electoral timeline.
